Drift River Lupin- 2016
Since I just posted about our time in Drift River this year, I thought I’d share a blog post I found sitting in my drafts from Atlee’s first time at Drift River. The lupine that year were impressive. I hope you enjoy
Like the last three years, this year, we headed out on our annual Super Cub summer adventure at the end of June, this time with a baby in tow. For our first stop, we decided to head across Cook Inlet and stop at our friends, the Markwoods, who commercial fished near Drift River.

We thought we saw our friends out fishing on their boat, so we landed on the nearby beach, and Woodsen walked out onto the muddy beach.

We found out they were wrapping up their day fishing, so we jumped back in the plane and repositioned to the strip by their cabin.
The first thing I noticed was the thick fields of lupine in full bloom.

We explored a bit, but soon our friends had made their way back from the water.

It was a summer evening that’s hard to beat: friends, beautiful weather, and a wild Alaskan landscape to enjoy.

After we got Atlee down in her tent at the cabin, I snuck out to explore and capture the plentiful lupine.

I could have spent hours looking at this view and still be impressed by its beauty.

As the sun set, I finally pulled myself away and went to bed. I knew Atlee would be up bright and early and hungry as usual.

The next morning, we headed to the beach with Sarah and Hannah. The girls happily watched Atlee and I sat back and enjoyed the sun and sand.

Despite all the pictures I had taken the night before, the fields of lupine still called, and I returned to enjoy them and take more photos.

This time with Atlee too.

After plenty of time catching up, visiting, and enjoyng their beautiful fish site, we finally said our goodbyes and headed on to the next destination.

Before we left I found a pleasent surprise, One white lupine amidst the fields of purple.
