Exploring Yellowstone Park-16

Early in the morning Jack stopped by our camp and picked up Woodsen to go on a flight see and check out a couple grass strips in the area.

The kids and I had a leisurely morning then headed into West Yellowstone to stop by Kellie’s shop for coffee before heading to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center where the girls would help feed the Grizzlies.

Woodsen met us at the Discovery Center after his flight with Jack. Next we headed into the park to take in the scenery. We were hardly in the park when kids started complaining about the car ride and being hungry so we pulled off and let them stretch their legs and eat along side the river.

After that we pressed on and checked out multiple look-outs at the canyon and lower falls

The kids loved checking out the steaming pools, and got more excited about the drive when we saw heards of elk, a few coyotes, and a few lone bison along the way. Dinner time snuck up on us and we headed to meet Jack and Kellie for burritos.

The next day we headed back to the park to see more. This time we headed North to Mammoth Hot springs.

On the way back we pulled over at a lake to explore and stretch our legs.

Next stop, the Norris Basin which featured multiple steam vents and beautiful colors.

After getting our fill of driving and beautiful scenery, we ended the day at our campsite. We had met Jason, Christina and their two kids the day before and tonight we enjoyed burgers and salad together for dinner. The kids played and built a fort while the adults talked about all things aviation.

The next day we decided to head to Johnson Creek since there happened to be a fly in for 180’s and 185’s. Jason and Christina didnt have any firm plans and had a couple more day before they had to head home, so they decided to head to Johnson Creek as well. We planned to do a short flight see of the park in the morning before heading to Johnson creek.
